July 2014 was a month filled with excitement and trepidation. Having spent ten years employed in the IT industry, I had heard enough about broken printers and watching blue little progress bars move across the screen.
I had been developing websites for some years already and decided to take the leap from part time into full time freelancing!
With a small number of existing clients and a home office, I began working on growing the business and finding new customers. I set up Polegate Computers as a side project for about a year to use my IT skills and that also helped pick up web clients that we still have today.
Having provided a website to a local race team as a sponsorship deal, in 2016 I was invited to Brands Hatch to drive their race cars along with other sponsors. I was immediately hooked and went out and bought a track day car and trailer. The passion grew and within a year, I was competing in the MINI CHALLENGE. This opened up more doors and I began acquiring new clients around the car circuits in the motorsport industry.
I continued to focus my website services to specific industries where I had gained valuable knowledge including the Double glazing industry and motorsport industry.
In 2021 Nick, my college friend from 20 years ago joined the team. With Nick onboard, the company began to accelerate in performance and we could take on larger projects.
The business expanded again in 2022 when we took on Jamie. Jamie’s knowledge in strategic thinking and planning as well as being an expert in SEO gave us the perfect skills to really push our clients marketing.
In 2024, we’ve developed the business to focus on our clients’ businesses, finding ways to market their more profitable services, understanding their leads and helping them nurture those leads to become sales and pushing for long-term partnerships to maximise what we can do to grow their businesses.
With a select number of clients that we can really focus on, we wanted to say thank you and celebrate 10 years in business. We headed to Donington Park to treat our clients to hot laps in track-prepared cars and spend a great day with our clients and friends.
